AeroHippus* HORSE AEROSOL CHAMBER FOR RESPIRATORY RELIEF FROM EQUINE AIRWAY DISEASE If your horse has a lung condition that makes breathing uneasy, your veterinarian may prescribe an oral, injected or inhaled steroid. Delivering medication into your horse’s lungs with an equine inhaler is generally the preferred method for both veterinarians and horse owners. Inhaled medications target the lungs and require lower drug doses for effective results. As a result, this delivery method has fewer side effects than oral medications and injections (ex. urination, infection risk and behavioral changes including aggression, vomiting, lethargy, etc.). Inhaled medications are also easier to deliver. Oral steroid pills can be difficult to swallow or taste bad, and painful injections often require a trip to the vet. The AeroHippus* Chamber was designed to help properly and easily deliver metered dose inhaler medications to your horse to relieve respiratory symptoms without the side effects for a better quality of life. Metered dose inhalers are faster and may be better tolerated than a full face mask nebulizer system – and the delivery device is more cost effective. AeroHippus* Chamber can be used with any equine inhaler that your veterinarian has prescribed for: horse asthma, Inflammatory Airway Disease (IAD), Recurrent Airway Obstruction (RAO) or heaves, allergies, Equine Airway Disease (EAD), Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH), pneumonia or any other respiratory disease. The AeroHippus* Chamber provides inhalation therapy support for your horse. Our specially-designed equine aerosol chamber holds any kind of Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) inhaler or puffer at one end and has a soft rubber mask at the other. You simply need to pump a dose of medication into the chamber and hold the mask over one of your horse’s nostrils to allow him to inhale the medicine. Delivering horse inhaler medication into the lungs with an aerosol chamber is faster, quieter and better tolerated than using a nebulizer. AeroHippus* Chamber also has an innovative Flow-Vu* Indicator that allows you to check that the mask is fitted correctly while counting the number of breaths taken. The special valve in AeroHippus* Chamber will only allow the medication to leave the chamber if the mask is properly fitted and your horse is breathing normally, helping to ensure that the full dose to be delivered to the lungs. AeroHippus* Chamber has been designed to fit horses of all breeds and sizes. The following tips may make using your AeroHippus* Chamber inhaler easier: Introduce the AeroHippus* Chamber; start with the mask only, getting your horse used to the feel of it Reward your horse with treats before and / or after using the AeroHippus* Chamber Pump the medicine into the chamber before fitting the mask if the sound scares your horse Using AeroHippus* Chamber to deliver medication directly to the lungs means lower doses of drug are required, which means fewer potential side effects. Use the exclusive Flow-Vu* Indicator to make sure your horse’s mask is fitted properly and to keep track of how many breaths your horse has taken. AeroHippus* Chamber is simple to use, easy to clean and made from a shatter-proof, non-static plastic that prevents medication from building up on the inside of the aerosol chamber. The mask is made from comfortable rubber that won’t stick to skin or pull hair. Compatible with any veterinary prescribed Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI), we’ve developed AeroHippus* Chamber to work with horse inhalers for asthma, Equine Airway Disease, allergies and other respiratory issues quickly and effectively so that medication administration doesn’t have to be stressful or upsetting for your horse or for you.
