Hi, I’m sculptural artist James William Kincaid III and this is my world-famous DNA ring. Well, kind of world-famous! :p Notice that it has 12 turns or nodes. No other DNA ring has this 12 turn or 12 lobe design. The reason I created this design is, in designs with fewer lobes most of the ring is hidden by the underside of the hand and the sides of the fingers, so with fewer lobes, one cannot easily discern that the ring is representing DNA. This is not the case with my design as it can easily be discerned that the ring represents DNA no matter how the ring is positioned radially on the finger. Technically, this is a diagrammatic representation of a deoxyribonucleic acid molecule made into the form of a ring. More specifically, it is a representation of normal B-DNA having a right-handed helix as first described by Watson and Crick based on Rosalind Franklin’s X-ray diffraction images.
