The Ultimate Warrior To celebrate 50 years of Shot’s dedication to making darts, we wanted to create something special for our global tribe of players. The Warrior Kapene (Kah-peh-neh) showcases where Shot has come from and embodies the spirit of where we’re going – a nod to our past and future. Kapene translates as Captain – a tribal leader to guide us into the next 50 years. This dart is inspired by our home, and honors the warrior within. We commissioned Tauranga Master carver Whare Thompson to design a sleeve ‘Ta Moko’ tattoo that wraps around and runs along the length of the barrel and is echoed in the flight. With a straight shape and blended front center weighting, Kapene boasts a generous shark grip along the barrel. Rear and front scallops give this 90% Tungsten dart set two positive areas – for a strong push and a sure reference point. Armored in superfine Titanium with a laser-etched Ta Moko (tribal tattoo) sleeve that’s echoed in its flight. You can be assured we have a strong commitment to the quality and have the ability to create products for all clients with any skill set. Our 50 years of experience give us the knowledge of dart products from start to finish. We believe you deserve an amazing dart experience and our passion is delivering darts & dart accessories that allow you to play the sport you love. Key Features Warrior Kapene Barrel Details The Kapene is a very agile dart, with grip featuring along the entire barrel, dart players can find positive finger placement at any point. A slight front scallop follows the smooth ring grip nose; then flows on to a telescopic-like wide shark grip. A more extensive scallop features at the rear of the dart. The decorative Cinder Grip has been laser applied and adds a layer of superfine traction which aids a controlled throw. Also available in Steel Tip. Warrior Kapene Dart Flight The design pays homage to Tawhirimatea, the wind god in Maori Culture. They are embellished with a Takarangi (double spiral) pattern entwined with Celtic knots – to represent the physical and spiritual worlds and the multi-cultural diversity of our darts community. The Koru (curled fern) represents the growth of the community for the future generations that follow. Our dart sets are finished with tough and durable 100 Micron (Extra Thick) flights, which feature distinctive designs that are hand drawn by our in- house design team. Standout graphics echo each individual dart theme perfectly. These flights are in small standard sizing, which provides maximum lift and stability of the dart when it is in flight. Tao Carbon Shaft with Spring Ring The latest in precision, high performance shafts from Shot Darts. Crafted in carbon composite, the Tao (meaning a traditional MÄori spear) is designed and meticulously made to be featherlight, tough and durable. An aerodynamic tapered waisted design reduces air disturbance and carves a truer flight path. Its premium spring ring grips the flight tighter to the shaft, meaning less chance of Robin Hoods. And a greater chance of victory. In-between sized (37.5mm) shafts give good balance to the flight of the dart and ensures that it will hit the board at an optimum angle. A complimentary balance between control and stability is what makes the In-between shaft so popular among players. Warrior Kapene Titanium Steel Tip Point 2BA Premium Lippoints (soft tip points) offer high quality and durability. These tips have a texture applied and also feature additional finger grip patterns at base of the tip. This will help overall to prevent bounce outs which means you’ll be able to spend more time enjoying your game! Soft tip darts have a threaded nose on the barrel, so the points can be easily replaced as often as you need to. Simply un-screw the used tip and replace. They’ve been tested where it counts, by players, refined, then tested again. Our darts are designed and manufactured at our factory in New Zealand and each dart runs a gauntlet to bear the Shot Darts name. Original concepts are hand-drawn and then transferred to CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. The software identifies the cuts and grooves to be applied to the dart and determines the weight, balance point, length and tungsten percentage. Tungsten 101 Tungsten is used in darts production because of its high weight to volume ratio. It resists wear and allows barrels to be slimmer, for tighter groupings, while maintaining the weight of the dart. It has the highest melting point of all metals, is more resistant to fracturing than diamond and much harder than steel. It is often sintered together with other metals, such as iron and nickel but, simply put, the higher the percentage of tungsten, the better the dart. Production Story Each dart starts in tungsten billet form, before being threaded and drilled, to ensure it’s the right length and weight. It’s then put through a CNC machine to profile cut the body. This can take up to 10 minutes for a more complicated, higher end barrel – or half an hour per set. From here, the barrel might be coated in either titanium nitrate or Shot’s own PCT coating, which determines its colour, re-machined for additional profiling, and then laser etched before being pointed and packed. Some of our more complex darts might go through eight or nine different processes! Our Commitment to our Customers Given our attention to quality and detail, it’s unsurprising our company stands behind every tungsten dart. All of our 90% tungsten darts have been Match Weighted +/- 0.05 gm! This represents the last quality control check before they end up in the hands of players. The barrels are match-weighted and grouped, by hand. A small hand-written note identifying the set weight is included in each dart pack, along with details on how to activate your dart set. CAD Software Tungsten Rods CNC Machine Quality Control Shot Player Chris White – USA Champion “Being a Shot Darts Sponsored Player is a true honor as it’s a great company that is well respected worldwide. As a professional darts player, it means a lot to play with high quality products that supports my game!” Dart Tips: Grip – To throw consistent darts, you need a comfortable and natural grip that works for you. It’s important to reproduce the same grip, shot after shot. Stance – My suggestion is to keep the weight of your body on your front foot, leaning slightly forward with the back foot secure on the floor. However, do your best to keep your body perfectly balanced with as little movement as possible for best accuracy. Release -The throwing action must be smooth with the same arm movement each time. Also, follow through with your arm pointing at the target on release. Concentration – Focus only on the intended target and block out all other distractions around you. How to improve – Once you have the basics in place, practice and keep playing as much as possible. Being a Young Gun requires dedication, time, respect and practice – something all dart players everywhere should strive for.” Our History Shot Darts has been a permanent fixture on the world darts stage for 50 years. Our story begins in 1970 in Katikati, New Zealand, with the establishment of Puma Dart Products. Running almost as soon as we could walk, we started designing products with a distinct difference, like The Bandit, the world’s first bladed bristle dart board. In 2009, Puma Darts saw an opportunity to maximise its impact on the world stage with a high-quality, precision dart brand that would resonate with a global audience, and the Shot Darts brand was born. We’ve set about making the game of darts more accessible, more fun and more accurate for everyone from absolute newcomers to weekend warriors to seasoned pros. Our support of the game doesn’t stop with our products. As well as sponsoring some of the best pro-players around like US Champion Chris White, our commitment to growing the game is reflected in our Young Guns program – which you’ve supported through your purchase.
