The Lotus Honda of Ayrton Senna plowed through a runoff sand trap after running wide at the Parabolica during the 1987 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. This allowed Nelson Piquet in his Williams Honda to achieve victory, ultimately providing him with his third driver’s World Championship title.
