The pattern for the top of this table is borrowed from the very old quilting pattern known as a basket weave. It gets its name from the illusion that there are long individual pieces that are woven together like a basket when in fact each piece is an individual small block of wood. The pieces are made from antique wood ¾ of an inch thick and there approximately 400 of them in the table, each individually hand set into place. The oblong pieces are antique pine, the dark squares are poplar and the perimeter banding is walnut. The legs are of the French cabriole style. It took approximately a week and a half to make this table. I can make a similar table of any dimension or style. Custom prices vary by size and complexity of style.
