“IHS”, The Holy name of Jesus sterling silver and gold men’s ring Original unique design with beautiful details and amazing art work Rare piece, top quality, best craftsmanship, handmade Excellent new condition, stamped 925 and 10K Total weight 13.20 of which 8.68 silver and 4.52 gold, face dimensions: 22×22 Sterling silver and Gold Handmade Knight Templar/ “IHS” style men’s ring. There is a very detailed and an intricately designed frame which makes the ring an extremely rare and attractive piece. Top of ring features one very identifiable symbol “IHS” which is used to abbreviate “the Holy name of Jesus”. The name “Jesus” in Greek is written as “ihsous” so, the insignia “IHS” is the first three letters of the word which, comes from the Latinized version of the Greek alphabet. After three nails were added under the insignia some noticed that the inscription now contained a “V” below the IHS – so that we see IHSV. In this form it was adopted by St. Ignatius as the symbol of the Jesuits. IHSV was interpreted to mean In Hoc Signo Vinces, “In this sign, you shall conquer”. Each side of the ring abbreviates a Templar cross which is carved straight into the frame. This symbol relates directly with the Knight Templars.
