Perfect for world gold collections, these British King Edward Gold Sovereigns each contain .2354 ounces pure gold and each one is in About Uncirculated (AU) to Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition and dated pre-1933. We select the dates you receive and feels confident that you will be very pleased with the selections.First introduced in 1816, British Sovereign Gold bullion coins are nickel-size gold bullion coins that were struck worldwide at the height of the British Empire. The reverse (back side) design, first introduced in 1816, features Saint George slaying a dragon as designed by a brilliant young Italian engraver, Benedetto Pistrucci. This beautiful classic design remains on the gold sovereigns today, almost two hundred years later.King Edward VII ruled England from 1901-1910 (though the first of the King Edward Sovereigns were not minted until 1902 when he was officially crowned). The Gold Sovereigns were heavily circulated throughout the British Empire, India, and Asia. Because of the worldwide circulation and appreciation for the gold coin very few of them have survived in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. BU Edward Sovereigns are increasingly scarce and are considered very desirable to collectors and investors alike.Since King Edward Sovereigns were only minted for a short period of time (1902-1910) and are rare in BU GEM condition they tend to carry higher premiums than that of the more commonly found King George Sovereigns.
